NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Students from the Northbridge school district and Northbridge Girl Scouts joined Natalie Lyons on Oct. 7 to walk in the 16th annual Buddy Walk and Family Picnic at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield.
Northbridge Girl Scouts and Northbridge Public Schools have always been a great supporter of Natalie, a member of Cadette Troop 30129 and a freshman at Northbridge High School, who has Down syndrome.
Special guests for the walk were Lauren Potter from “Glee”, Heather Hegedus from Fox 25 News, Ayla Brown (American Idol finalist) and her five piece band, and dancers from the Boston Ballet Adaptive Dance Program.
More than 3,500 walkers turned out to walk the three mile course and over $375,000 was raised to date with a goal of over $400,000 when all donations are in. The Buddy Walk is a celebration and promotion for acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome.
