Get Involved

Whatever your interest in or relationship with the Down syndrome community, the MDSC offers a number of ways to get involved and stay engaged. See links to the left for details on each of these opportunities.

  • See all that MDSC membership has to offer. Not only will you support a critical cause in a critical time for the Down syndrome community, you’ll get a discount at our Annual Conference, a copy of UPDATE, our quarterly newsletter mailed to your home, and invitations to the MDSC’s special events.
  • On Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (see very top of page for icons), you can keep tabs on the latest Down syndrome news, whether its checking out photos from the Buddy Walk, watching an inspiring video that’s gone viral, or learning about efforts to create a World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.
  • By signing up for one of our mailing lists, you can have all the news you want delivered right to your Inbox, whether you’re interested in events on the Cape and Islands, happenings by the Advocates in Motion program, education-related information or our Weekly Update.
  • Looking for a Down syndrome support group? Look no further. Whether you’re a new or expectant parent, a family of color, or a sibling of someone with Down syndrome, if you’re looking to connect with others in your shoes, The MDSC can help. We collaborate with more than 20 local support groups around the state.
  • What better way to get involved than volunteering. Throughout the year, the MDSC can use your help and expertise on a variety of projects and events.
  • Being an advocate on Beacon Hill or Capitol Hill can be the most impactful way to make a difference in the lives of thousands, if not millions, of people with Down syndrome. And believe it or not, all it requires many times is a few phone calls or emails to connect with your representatives. For those who catch the fever, of course, the opportunities are limitless: recruiting supporters in your community, joining our Legislative Task Force, attending the annual Buddy Walk on Washington D.C., or presenting testimony at the State House.
