Gifts of Stocks and Bonds

Donating appreciated stocks or bonds to the MDSC is sometimes more advantageous than gifts of cash. Here's why:

1. You avoid paying capital gains taxes when you contribute appreciated stocks or bonds directly to the MDSC.

2. You deduct the full value of the stock or bond as a charitable contribution, saving income taxes and lowering the effective cost of your gift.

3. The full value of your gift of stocks or bonds helps the MDSC and the people we serve, while you receive a significant tax break.
