Massachusetts, and metropolitan Boston specifically, is home to some of the best medical research facilities and healthcare clinics in the world. This is true as well in the field of Down syndrome study and healthcare services. See below for information about the area’s Down syndrome clinics at Children’s Hospital Boston, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Waltham’s Feingold Center for Children.
Children’s Hospital Boston Down Syndrome Program
The Children’s Hospital Boston Down Syndrome Program offers specialized services for parents of children with Down syndrome. Parents who receive a prenatal diagnosis will be given written information and can meet personally with a developmental pediatrician.
For families of children under three years old, the program offers clinic visits with an interdisciplinary team that focuses on medical and developmental monitoring. For children three to 18, families can arrange clinic visits with a team that includes experts on nutrition, developmental-behavioral pediatrics and genetics. The program also coordinates visits as needed with audiology, ophthalmology, dentistry, physical therapy and behavioral psychology. The services of the clinic complement those provided by each child’s primary care physician.
