Health Care Needs Group to Meet Sept. 12
The Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC) and the Boston Children’s Hospital Down Syndrome Program are co-hosting a support group for:
Families of Children with Down syndrome & Special Health Care Needs
Come help us learn how to best support your needs, network with other families, share resources, and meet staff from both MDSC and the Children’s Hospital Down Syndrome Program
Saturday, September 12, 2015
from 10am – Noon
Our facilitator will be Mary-Frances Garber, MS, CGC who has worked closely with the MDSC Family Support for several years. Mary-Frances is a practicing genetic counselor and also has a private supportive counseling practice. Mary-Frances has an intuitive warmth and compassion for families whose children have more significant needs.
Mary-Frances will lead the group in conversation about what supports are (and would be) helpful for them as parents, during hospitalizations, new diagnoses, and day-to-day life that can be more challenging that “just Down syndrome”. She will also lead us in a discussion around self-care, coping skills and balancing life.
Please join us for a warm, supportive environment of sharing and support!
