How You Can Help
Be a Team Captain - Start Your Own Team
A Team Captain creates his/her own team made up of family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, community groups, educators, classmates, etc. who collaborate to raise awareness about Down syndrome in their local communities and raise funds to support the MDSC. Team Captains are essential to the success of the Buddy Walk events. All walkers are encouraged to raise $150 prior to the walk.
Become an MDSC "All-Star"
Can you raise $500 or more? If you answered yes, you can be a Buddy Walk All Star! Our special All Stars program recognizes and honors people who go above and beyond by donating or raising $500 or more for the Buddy Walk program. As a Buddy Walk All Star, you will receive recognition in the MDSC newsletter, special star signage on the walk route, and an invitation to a social event in the following spring. All Stars pave the way for the MDSC to strengthen and expand our advocacy initiatives and support services for people with Down syndrome and their families. Strive to be a Buddy Walk All Star!
Sponsor the Event
Corporate partners enable the MDSC to continue to work towards ensuring individuals with Down syndrome are given opportunities to pursue fulfilling lives in the community. Your support will impact 5,000 people living with Down syndrome in Massachusetts and the thousands of people they are loved by and connected to. Event sponsorship is one of the many ways companies can align with the MDSC.
Depending on the sponsorship level, benefits may include:
If you want to sponsor the overall Buddy Walk Program (not just our signature event), we will customize a sponsorship package. This will give your company maximum exposure at all our Buddy Walk events. Please ask!
Run a Buddy Bucks Campaign
Do you operate a business and want to use it as a way to raise funds and awareness to support people with Down syndrome? You can give your customers an opportunity to support people with Down syndrome by running a Buddy Bucks Campaign. At checkout, your staff would have an option for customers to donate a $1.00, $5.00, or other amount to the MDSC. The MDSC will provide you with "Be a Buddy" slips as well as any assistance you need to help launch or implement the campaign. To learn how you can open a Buddy Bucks Store at your business, contact us at 781-221-0024.
Organize a School Fundraiser
Coin drive. Bake sale. Talent show. Read-a-thon. Walk for Down syndrome.
Whether you're a preschooler, high school student, parent, teacher or administrator, you can help the MDSC and people with Down syndrome throughout the state. Hold a fundraiser at your school, put your own personal creative stamp on it, have fun and create awareness about Down syndrome.
If you are interested in organizing a fundraiser at your school, fill out our Community Fundraising Form.
